History about Ultralight

The TL Ultralight Company was established in 1990 in the CzechRepubliccity ofHradec Kralove. The initial interests of TL Ultralight was the development and manufacture of gliders, but more recently they have started producing Ultralight Aircraft. The company started with production of the TL1 and TL2 gliders which were very successful and are still sold all around the world. In 1991 the TL Ultralight Company started with production of TL 32 Typhoon, this Ultralight aircraft became popular for recreation flying and a total of 195 examples were sold all around Europe and some even made it to the USA.

After the Typhoon came the TL 132 CONDOR. The Condor aircraft is certified and built to the strict requirements of the many flying schools which use this aircraft, following the TL 132 Condor came the TL 232 CONDOR, this Ultralight has been certified in Germany, France, Holland and Spain and a total of 115 aircraft have been produced over recent years, the Condor continues to be a good seller. Another interesting aircraft and good seller for the TL Ultralight Company is the TL 22 DUO trike. In 1996 the TL Ultralight Company developed a completely new type of aircraft the TL 96 STAR. The STAR'S evolution took 2 years and the design features many examples of new technology using composite materials, the STAR is certified in several countries includingGermany,Spain,ItalyandBelgium, the STAR was joined by the TL 2000 STING CARBON in 2000 which has now replaced the STAR as the companies biggest selling aircraft.

History:

The ultimate refinement of the basic La-5 rather than a new design, the La-7 was developed from the autumn of 1943 under the bureau designation of La-120. This embodied the results of a TsAGI wind tunnel programme aimed at defining areas in which the basic La-5FN could be aerodynamically improved. Incorporating the modified wing structure (metal spars replacing the wooden box spars) intended for application to the definitive La-5FN (but not to be introduced on that fighter until the late spring of 1944), a revised inboard wing leading edge and an entirely new cowling for the Shvetsov M-82FN engine, the La-120 was first flown in November 1943. In the following spring it entered production as the La-7. The intended armament comprised three 20mm Berezina B-20 cannon, but while this armament was installed in aircraft built at Yaroslavl, those built at Moscow reverted to the twin ShVAK cannon of the La-5FN. Variants included the tandem two-seat La-7UTI trainer, the La-7TK with a pair of TK-3 turbo-superchargers, and the rocket-boosted La-7R. The La-7TK was test flown in July- August 1944, but was destroyed when a turbo-supercharger exploded. Another example was fitted with the 2000hp ASh-71TK, trials soon being discontinued owing to the erratic behavior of this engine's turbo superchargers.

The La-7R, of which two prototypes were tested, was fitted in the rear fuselage with an RD-lKhZ liquid rocket motor of 300kg thrust, the first prototype being destroyed during the initial take-off run in October 1944. Flight testing of the second prototype continued until February 1945, and a further example - a conversion of one of the original prototype airframes and therefore referred to as the La-120R - entered test in January 1945, this having an improved rocket motor and local airframe structural changes. Testing of the La-120R continued until late 1946.

About the project

98 inch DHC Caribou was put forward in late 2011 by Simon Harvey and Anthony Ogle, who both worked for Australian Air Force. They supplied all the drawings and detailed photos. The demo plane was built up in Sept.2012 by Simon. The maiden flight had to be postponed few times as Simon was slightly injured and could not test the plane in schedule until early November 2012. The demo plane was successfully tested on 08 Nov.2012.

Caribou aircraft history:

The de Havilland Canada (DHC) Caribou was the workhorse of the Australian military for more than forty years. Its main operational role was in support of the Australian Army. Although slow and noisy, the Caribou was a versatile transport aircraft, capable of short take-offs and landings on unprepared runways. Its rear-opening ramp doors allowed personnel and cargo to be unloaded quickly. The Caribou was ordered in the early 1960s to replace the reliable, though aging, Dakota aircraft.

The RAAF received its first Caribou on 25 February 1964 when A4-134 was formally handed over at the DHC plant at Downsville, near Toronto. This aircraft along with A4-140 and A4-147 was then flown from Canada to Australia arriving at the Richmond RAAF base on 22 April. In July 1964 Caribous being ferried from Canada to Australia were diverted to Butterworth, Malaysia, where they became the basis of RAAF, Transport Flight Vietnam (RTFV), which later became 35 Squadron. Further Caribous were delivered to Vietnam, while those that reached Australia went to 38 Squadron.

In addition to their work in Australia and Vietnam, RAAF Caribous were flown across Asia and the Pacific from 1965 carrying out much support and relief work. In Papua New Guinea, Caribous were used for civil assistance while in East Timor the aircraft flew mercy flights to refugees. Between 1975 and 1978 Caribous operated with the United Nations Military Observer Group, supplying observation posts along the India-Pakistan border. In more recent years, the Caribous have flown famine-relief operations to Papua New Guinea and Irian Jaya, tsunami relief to Papua New Guinea and have also been used in East Timor and the Solomon Islands.

History:

The Hawker Sea Fury Carrier borne fighter-bomber was the British Fleet Air Arm's last piston-engined fighter, developed during WWII it did not see service with the Fleet Air Arm until after the war. It was arguably the fastest piston powered aircraft ever manufactured. It was a development from the Hawker Tempest, itself a development of the Hawker Typhoon.

Originally, the Hawker Fury was designed by Sidney Camm in 1942 under F.2/43 specification, to provide the RAF with a lightweight replacement for the Tempest II. On 23 June, 1942, Luftwaffe Pilot Oberleutnant Arnim Faber erroneously landed his Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-3 fighter at RAF Pembrey, apparently having mistaken this airfield for a Luftwaffe channel coast airfield.

The British were thereby presented with a working example of the Fw 190 fighter, which had been giving the RAF an extremely difficult time. The Hawker Fury design was a direct result of the examination of Faber's Fw 190A-3. Examination of Faber's aircraft was largely responsible for the preparation of Specification F.6/42, which called for a new, high-performance fighter. The design was modified in 1943 to meet a Royal Navy specification (N.7/43) for a carrier-based interceptor and named the Hawker Sea Fury.

Hawker was designated to work on the land-based version, and responsibility for the naval conversion was assigned to Boulton-Paul Aircraft Ltd. of Wolverhampton. Early in 1944, a revised naval specification, N.22/43, supplanted N.7/43. and in April 1944 contracts were placed for 200 F.2/43 planes for the RAF and 200 N.22/43 planes for the Fleet Air Arm. The first Sea Fury prototype, SR661, flew on 21 February, 1945. It was powered by a Centaurus XII engine driving a four-bladed propeller. This airplane had a deck arrester hook under the rudder, but retained fixed wings.

The second Sea Fury prototype, SR666, was powered by a Centaurus XV driving a five-bladed propeller and was a fully navalized aircraft with folding wings. The prototype Sea Fury SR661 was subsequently tested for its suitability as a naval fighter, and in deck landing trials, at the A&AEE Boscombe Down in May 1945. Tests were still underway as the Japanese surrendered in August 1945. With the end of the Second World War, the RAF cancelled all production contracts for the Fury, deciding to concentrate all of its future efforts on jet fighters.

The Royal Navy reduced its order for Sea Furies to 100 aircraft, and canceled the Boulton-Paul contract in its entirety. The first production aircraft - a Mark 10 which was a carrier-based version, with folding wings- did not make its initial flight until September 1946. Although originally intended to serve with both the RAF and FAA, the RAF order was cancelled at the end of the war.

The first deck trials with Sea Fury TF898 began aboard HMS Victorious during the winter of 1946-47. The Mark 10 was approved for carrier operations in Spring 1947, and five Fleet Air Arm squadrons were then equipped with the Sea Fury. The Mark 10 was followed by the Mark 11 fighter-bomber - 615 of these were eventually delivered to the Navy. It became the Fleet Air Arm's principal single-seat fighter and remained so until the introduction of the Sea Hawk jet fighter in 1953. The Sea Fury served throughout the Korean War, replacing the Seafire, which was not really built for carrier operations, being too fragile.

The Sea Fury was used by the FAA, Canada, Holland, Australia, and other countries including the Iraq Air Force. A total of 75 Sea Furies served with the Royal Canadian Navy(R.C.N.) between 1948 and 1956. All flew from the Aircraft Carrier HMCS Magnificent in 871 squadron.

History

The Grumman TBF Avenger (designated TBM for aircraft manufactured by General Motors) was a torpedo bomber developed initially for the US Navy and US Marine Corps, and used by a large number of air arms around the world. It entered service in 1942 and first saw action during the Battle of Midway. The Avenger had overall ruggedness and stability, and pilots say it flew like a truck, for better or worse. With its good radio facilities, docile handling and long range, it also made an ideal command aircraft for Commanders, Air Group. Its 30,000-foot ceiling and fully-loaded range of 1,000 miles made it better than any previous American torpedo plane. Later Avenger models carried radar equipment for the ASW and AEW roles.

In June 1943, future president George H. W. Bush became the youngest naval aviator at the time. While flying a TBM with VT-51 (from the USS San Jacinto (CVL-30)), his plane was shot down on September 2, 1944 over the Pacific island of Chichi Jima. Both of his crewmates died, but he was able to release his payload and hit the target before being forced to bail out. He thus received the Distinguished Flying Cross for this action.

History:

The Macchi Mc.205 flu for the first time in April 1942; this new plane was, practically, the same airframe used by the MC.202, but with the new and more powerful Daimler-Benz DB605. This new airplane immediately showed its excellent qualities reaching, during trails, a speed of 650 Km/h. Armament was quite good with two 12.7 mm machine guns and two 20 mm guns (the only effective weapon against enemy bomber), followed later by model with even grater firepower.

The Mc.205 reached the airfields in June 1943, with the first planes assigned to the 1st Stormo based on the island of Pantelleria and utilized over North Africa and in defense of the last convoys directed to Tunisia.. On their first sortie, 25 Mc.205 faced, with excellent results, much larger enemy squadrons of P-40s and Spitfires. Later, the "Veltro" were relocated from Pantelleria to Catania where they were used in support of MAS (torpedo boat) operations. Here, they role became solely defensive in the attempt of stopping the ever increasing enemy bombers. When the Allied forces landed in Sicily, in addition to the 10 Mc.205 deployed on the island's airfield, there were about 50 Mc.202 and about the same number of Bf-109s. Despite the fact that more planes were sent to the front, the situation appeared immediately dramatic. The Luftwaffe has only 400 planes against the 4,900 deployed by the Allied air forces. The quick retreat from eastern Sicily, forced some of the air force personnel to destroy on the ground six of the Mc.205s based at the airport of Catania-Fontanarossa. The battle for the control of the airspace over Sicilywas short lived; heavy Allied bombing over Axis airfields did the job. The 4th Stormo, later reorganized in Calabria where it attempted to halt the new landing by strafing ships and landing vessels along the coast.

Meantime, the Pisa-based 51st Stormo, which had received it first Mc.205 since April 1943, was engaged in harsh fights over the Island of Sardinia. On the 2nd of August, six Mc.205 attacked 20 P.38 and P.40 engaged in the shooting of a Cant Z506 rescue plane; 6 of the Allied planes will be lost to only one Mc.205. Mussolini's air force (Aviazione Repubblica Sociale Italiana) saw a conspicuous utilization of the Mc.205 with 29 planes retained after the armistice and 112 new one produced by the Macchi of Varese, which, later on, will be neutralized by Allied bombing. The plane was produced until 1948. The "Veltro" along other planes of the so-called series 5 (Macchi Mc.205, Reggiane Re.2005, Fiat G.55) represent the best of Italian aeronautical engineering during the war and demonstrated Italy's ability to produce planes capable of fighting the much more modern enemy aircrafts. These planes could not be fully utilized to the chronic shortage of engine and weapons and, most of all, row material especially toward the end of the war.. These machines, against common belief, are witnesses of the Italian Air Force ability to deploy, although in limited number, planes of the highest quality.

On the market, no full size Gee Bee R3 or R4 had been produced. Gee Bee planes history:

This famous race plane company started as Granville Brothers Aircraft Repair in 1927 and changed to the Granville Bros. in 1929 to develop their Model A. After the success of their Model Z, the company changed again as the Granville Aircraft Corp (1932) building their most famous aircraft, the Super Sportster R which captured the world land plane record of 296.3 mph on September 3, 1932.The company went bankrupt in 1934.The five Granville brothers were Edward, Mark, Robert, Thomas and Zantford. The Granville Brothers built only 24 aircrafts. Only two originals are known to exist.

In 1970 Ken Flager began building a reproduction of the Florence Klingensmith Model Y. Completed in 1984, the reproduction is powered by a 300 HP Lycoming R-680. Jack Venaleck now owns this aircraft. An exact replica Gee Bee Z has been completed by Jim Kimball Enterprises and is on display at Kermit Week Fantasy of Flight, Polk City Florida.

The most famous flying reproduction of any of the Super Sportsters was the Gee Bee R2 example built by Delmar Benjamin and Steve Wolf, which was test flown December 23, 1991. After being flown for many years, the plane was retired to Kermit Weeks' Fantasy of Flight, Polk City, Florida alongside the Model Z reproduction.

Some of the worst flying conditions found anywhere in the world exist over the densely forested terrain of the Canadian North Woods. In addition to being subjected to long, blizzard-filled winters, the millions of square miles that stretch between the Labrador Sea and the North Pacific Ocean above the 50^th parallel are sparsely populated, and modern airfields are few and far between. In fact, were it not for the uncounted thousands of lakes that dot the Canadian North, air travel within that vast region would be all but impossible, for there is nowhere else to land. It takes an exceptionally rugged aircraft to operate safely and reliably in the Canadian bush. One such airplane is the de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver, a single-engine high-wing monoplane.

The versatile all-metal Beaver made its inaugural flight in August of 1947, and since that time more than 1,650 have been constructed. Nearly 1,000 of this total were sent to the United States for the use of military services. The Beaver, which was designed only after consultation with some 80 veteran Canadian bush pilots, is a true STOL (short takeoff and landing) aircraft. It features a high-lift wing with its entire trailing edge hinged, hydraulically operated flaps and slotted ailerons. These special features permit the aircraft to take off and land in extremely short distances. Another outstanding advantage of the Beaver is its ability to operate equally well on wheels, skis, floats or as an amphibian. Thus, the plane has the capability of flying anywhere there is smooth land, water, snow or ice.

The Beaver can carry a crew of two, plus six passengers or more than 1,500 pounds of cargo. Powered by a 450-horsepower, nine-cylinder air-cooled radial Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior engine, the Beaver has a maximum speed of 180 miles per hour as a landplane and 155 miles per hour as a seaplane. The plane has a wingspan of 48 feet and measures just over 30 feet in length. Its maximum range is 800 miles. Aviation experts consider the de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver to be one of the most perfectly designed small utility aircraft ever built, and a great number of them remain in service today in many parts of the world. The Fokker E.V was a German parasol-monoplane fighter aircraft designed by Reinhold Platz and built by Fokker-Flugzeugwerke. It entered service with the Luftstreitkrfte in the last months of World War I. After several fatal accidents due to wing failures, the aircraft was modified and redesignated Fokker D.VIII. Dubbed the Flying Razor by Allied pilots, the D.VIII had the distinction of scoring the last aerial victory of the war.

History:

The Hawker Sea Fury Carrier borne fighter-bomber was the British Fleet Air Arm's last piston-engined fighter, developed during WWII it did not see service with the Fleet Air Arm until after the war. It was arguably the fastest piston powered aircraft ever manufactured. It was a development from the Hawker Tempest, itself a development of the Hawker Typhoon.

Originally, the Hawker Fury was designed by Sidney Camm in 1942 under F.2/43 specification, to provide the RAF with a lightweight replacement for the Tempest II. On 23 June, 1942, Luftwaffe Pilot Oberleutnant Arnim Faber erroneously landed his Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-3 fighter at RAF Pembrey, apparently having mistaken this airfield for a Luftwaffe channel coast airfield.

The British were thereby presented with a working example of the Fw 190 fighter, which had been giving the RAF an extremely difficult time. The Hawker Fury design was a direct result of the examination of Faber's Fw 190A-3. Examination of Faber's aircraft was largely responsible for the preparation of Specification F.6/42, which called for a new, high-performance fighter. The design was modified in 1943 to meet a Royal Navy specification (N.7/43) for a carrier-based interceptor and named the Hawker Sea Fury.

Hawker was designated to work on the land-based version, and responsibility for the naval conversion was assigned to Boulton-Paul Aircraft Ltd. of Wolverhampton. Early in 1944, a revised naval specification, N.22/43, supplanted N.7/43. and in April 1944 contracts were placed for 200 F.2/43 planes for the RAF and 200 N.22/43 planes for the Fleet Air Arm. The first Sea Fury prototype, SR661, flew on 21 February, 1945. It was powered by a Centaurus XII engine driving a four-bladed propeller. This airplane had a deck arrester hook under the rudder, but retained fixed wings.

The second Sea Fury prototype, SR666, was powered by a Centaurus XV driving a five-bladed propeller and was a fully navalized aircraft with folding wings. The prototype Sea Fury SR661 was subsequently tested for its suitability as a naval fighter, and in deck landing trials, at the A&AEE Boscombe Down in May 1945. Tests were still underway as the Japanese surrendered in August 1945. With the end of the Second World War, the RAF cancelled all production contracts for the Fury, deciding to concentrate all of its future efforts on jet fighters.

The Royal Navy reduced its order for Sea Furies to 100 aircraft, and canceled the Boulton-Paul contract in its entirety. The first production aircraft - a Mark 10 which was a carrier-based version, with folding wings- did not make its initial flight until September 1946. The Sea Fury served throughout the Korean War, replacing the Seafire, which was not really built for carrier operations, being too fragile.

The Sea Fury was used by the FAA, Canada, Holland, Australia, and other countries including the Iraq Air Force. A total of 75 Sea Furies served with the Royal Canadian Navy(R.C.N.) between 1948 and 1956. All flew from the Aircraft Carrier HMCS Magnificent in 871 squadron.

History of the full size plane

Its design was derived from the Aeronca C-2. Introduced in 1931, it featured room for a passenger seated next to the pilot. Powered by a new 36 hp (27 kW) Aeronca E-113 engine, the seating configuration made flight training much easier and many Aeronca owners often took to the skies with only five hours of instruction—largely because of the C-3's predictable flying characteristics. Both the C-2 and C-3 are often described as “powered gliders” because of their gliding ability and gentle landing speeds.

The C-3's distinctive razorback design was drastically altered in 1935 with the appearance of the “roundback” C-3 Master. Retaining the tubular fuselage frame construction, the C-3 Master featured a smaller vertical stabilizer and rudder with a “filled out” fuselage shape that created the new “roundback” appearance and improved the airflow over the tail. With an enclosed cabin (brakes and wing light still cost extra), the 1935 C-3 Master was priced at only $1,895^[1]—just a few hundred dollars more than the primitive C-2 of 1930.^[2] The low price generated significant sales; 128 C-3 Masters were built in 1935 alone (of 430 C-3s built in all),^[3] and the 500th Aeronca aircraft also rolled off the assembly line that same year.

A version of the C-3 with fabric-covered ailerons (instead of metal), designated the Aeronca 100, was built in England under license by Light Aircraft Ltd. (operating as Aeronautical Corporation of Great Britain Ltd.) but the expected sales never materialized—only 24 British-built aircraft were manufactured before production was halted.

Production of the C-3 was halted in 1937 when the aircraft no longer met new U.S. government standards for airworthiness. Many of the C-3's peculiarities—a strictly external wire-braced wing with no wing struts directly connecting the wing panels with the fuselage, extensive fabric construction, single-ignition engine, and lack of an airspeed indicator—were no longer permitted. Fortunately for the legion of Aeronca owners, a “grandfather” clause in the federal regulations allowed their airplanes to continue flying, although they could no longer be manufactured.

Gee Bee planes history:

This famous race plane company started as Granville Brothers Aircraft Repair in 1927 and changed to the Granville Bros. in 1929 to develop their Model A. After the success of their Model Z, the company changed again as the Granville Aircraft Corp (1932) building their most famous aircraft, the Super Sportster R which captured the world land plane record of 296.3 mph on September 3, 1932.The company went bankrupt in 1934.The five Granville brothers were Edward, Mark, Robert, Thomas and Zantford. The Granville Brothers built only 24 aircrafts. Only two originals are known to exist.

In 1970 Ken Flager began building a reproduction of the Florence Klingensmith Model Y. Completed in 1984, the reproduction is powered by a 300 HP Lycoming R-680. Jack Venaleck now owns this aircraft. An exact replica Gee Bee Z has been completed by Jim Kimball Enterprises and is on display at Kermit Week, Fantasy of Flight, Polk City Florida.

The most famous flying reproduction of any of the Super Sportsters was the Gee Bee R2 example built by Delmar Benjamin and Steve Wolf, which was test flown December 23, 1991. After being flown for many years, the plane was retired to Kermit Weeks' Fantasy of Flight, Polk City, Florida alongside the Model Z reproduction.
